Full details
Finished to a high standard with an interior refurbished sympathetically to the era the house was built in, with a contemporary twist, it’s both pleasing to the eye and very practical, too.
This lovely home is stylishly presented, spacious and being both detached and elevated from road level, offers a great sense of privacy. The house also has off-street parking and a garage.
Having been lovingly updated by its current owner, the house is presented incredibly well. On the ground floor, there is an impressive amount of reception space, and the layout works really well for both family life and entertaining guests. There’s pretty parquet flooring, which is a lovely original feature, and the room offers a defined area for a large dining table, plus all the space you need to realise your sofa dreams!
835A feature worth mentioning in the reception space is the huge windows at both ends of the room. Spanning almost the entire width of the room at the front, and the width and height of the room at the rear, they illuminate this space brilliantly. The reception is still very private thanks to the large hedge in the front garden, which blocks any view into the room.
The kitchen also has a defined dining space, so dining options can be configured in various ways between the two rooms. The kitchen area flows nicely into and from the reception, with bi-fold doors should you wish to close off the kitchen from the reception – ideal when cooking.
The kitchen is modern and practical and has absolutely masses of storage. There’s a Scandi vibe going on, and the colourful floor tiles complement the kitchen tones very well. For those that enjoy cooking, there’s a gas hob and quality electric oven, which is integrated, as is the dishwasher and fridge-freezer.
Moving upstairs, the landing feels open and bright. Off it comes the three bedrooms and bathroom. The bathroom is beautifully finished, with smart vertical tiles covering all of the walls and attractive terrazzo tiles to the floor. The bathroom is impressively sized and overlooks the garden, making it very private. There’s also an integrated rain shower over a large bath, giving you the best of both worlds.
There are two large double bedrooms. The dimensions of the two double rooms are similar. The rear-facing room, which overlooks the garden, has an eastern aspect, giving it fabulous light first thing in the morning. The single room makes for a great office for those who work from home, or an ample-sized children’s room.
The garden is southwest facing, which is ideal if you want the sun from mid-to late morning until the late afternoon / early evening. It’s incredibly private, and the top tier especially gives complete seclusion and an awesome vista over the rooftops to Beckenham Place Park.
There’s off-street parking a car on the driveway, and the garage provides great storage for bikes and sporting equipment etc. There’s electricity in the garage too, and it could possibly house a tumble dryer. Additional parking can be found on street, where parking is unrestricted.
Location-wise, Madeira Avenue is a very quiet and residential road. It’s so quiet it feels like a cul-de-sac. The nearest station is Ravensbourne, which is just over half a mile away, or a 13 min walk according to Google Maps. Ravensbourne is useful for a connection to Shortlands and Bromley South, and also Blackfriars in the opposite direction. The line also stops at Crofton Park, Nunhead, Peckham and Denmark Hill, which are great spots for meals and weekends out.
Beautiful Beckenham Place Park is also nearby with its ancient woodland, cafes, swimming lake, and Sunday food market, ideal for longer dog walks and entertaining children. Shortlands is 0.9 miles away, with trains to Victoria, and all the shopping and transport links found in Bromley are within easy reach. Bromley’s main shopping area is one mile away and Bromley North Station is approx. the same.
